A Familiar Face Returns
Amie Anthrop, a longtime fixture in Tippecanoe County basketball, is poised to resume her role as head coach of the Harrison Raiders after a multi‑year hiatus. She left the program in 2020‑21, but her departure was followed by a deliberate pause that allowed her to explore new opportunities before returning to the sidelines.
During her previous tenure from 2016 to 2018, Anthrop compiled a 33‑15 record and guided the Raiders to two sectional championships. Her success extended beyond Harrison, where she later led Fountain Central and Clinton Prairie to multiple sectional titles, finishing with a career mark of 144‑65 over nine seasons.
From Purdue to Harrison
After leaving high school coaching, Anthrop spent three seasons as the director of operations for Purdue’s women’s basketball program. In that role she coordinated logistics, recruitment support and community outreach, gaining a broader perspective that she now brings to Harrison.
The transition comes after Rush McColley stepped down from the Raiders’ helm, creating a vacancy that the school board and athletic department filled with Anthrop’s proven leadership. Athletic director Jeff Smith praised her blend of on‑court acumen and administrative experience.
Community Expectations
Fans and alumni are eager to see whether Anthrop can replicate her earlier triumphs. Her previous teams at Fountain Central posted seven consecutive seasons with at least 16 wins, a benchmark that many hope will translate to Harrison.
School officials say the hire reflects a commitment to continuity and growth. By re‑engaging a coach who already knows the community, the district aims to maintain stability while injecting fresh ideas honed at the collegiate level.
The upcoming season will be a litmus test for Anthrop’s vision. With a roster that blends returning seniors and promising newcomers, the Raiders are positioned to contend in the Midwest Central Conference. The coach’s emphasis on discipline, academic excellence and player development is expected to shape the team’s identity.
