A New Era for Colorado Basketball
Amir Jones, a 6‑foot‑3 guard from Studio City, California, has signed a financial aid agreement to join the Colorado men’s basketball program for the 2026‑27 campaign. The commitment marks the latest addition to the Buffaloes’ roster as they look to bolster their frontcourt ahead of the upcoming season.
Jones comes to Boulder with a distinguished high school career at Harvard‑Westlake, where he helped the team capture two California Interscholastic Federation Open State championships. Over four seasons the Wolverines compiled a 124‑15 record, highlighted by back‑to‑back state titles in his freshman and sophomore years.
During his senior year, Jones averaged 12 points, five rebounds and four assists per game while earning All‑Mission League Second Team honors and a spot on the LA Daily News All‑Area Boys Basketball Team. His shooting efficiency and defensive instincts have drawn praise from analysts and teammates alike.
Head coach Tad Boyle described Jones as a “sleeper” who brings strong defensive skills and a reliable shooting touch. Boyle emphasized that Jones fits the program’s identity of versatile, hard‑working players who can impact the game in multiple ways.
The Buffaloes finished the previous season with a solid record, but injuries and inconsistent shooting limited their postseason prospects. Adding a player of Jones’s caliber is expected to provide depth and a spark on both ends of the floor.
Recruiting analysts view the class as one of the most promising in the region, noting that Jones’s blend of size, skill and championship experience could accelerate the team’s rebuild. His arrival coincides with a renewed focus on developing talent within the Pac‑12 conference.
