Amy Denson has been named the new head coach of the Forest Grove High School girls varsity basketball team, taking over a program that has navigated recent turbulence on the sidelines.
A Legacy of Winning
Denson arrives with a distinguished playing résumé that includes two state championships at Crater High School in Central Point, a collegiate career at Arizona State University highlighted by a Sweet Sixteen appearance, and eight years of professional play across five countries.
After concluding her playing career in 2013, she transitioned to coaching, serving stints at Crater High School and Portland State University before relocating to Forest Grove in 2019, where she has been assisting the varsity program ever since.
The Vikings' previous season was marked by the mid‑season departure of first‑year head coach Aaron Bronikowski due to personal issues. In his absence, assistant coach Doug Lamb guided the team to an 11‑14 overall record and secured a berth in the state playoffs, where they were eliminated by top‑ranked Tualatin in the opening round.
Roster turnover has reshaped the squad. Three seniors from the prior year's team, including first‑team all‑league forward Cali Davis, have graduated. Among those returning are senior guard Rylie Betteridge, who earned league honorable‑mention honors, and junior guard Brooklyn Lamb, both of whom are expected to play pivotal roles under Denson's direction.
