Andrew Galow has been appointed head coach of the Rhodes College Lynx women’s basketball program, a decision announced by Jim Duncan, the college’s Director of Athletics. The appointment marks a full‑circle moment for a figure who once wore the Lynx jersey as a student‑athlete and later served as an assistant coach within the same program.
A Legacy Rekindled
Galow’s collegiate career was marked by three consecutive Most Valuable Player honors, a 1,000‑point milestone, and first‑team all‑conference selections in his junior and senior seasons. In 2013 he received the Walter E. Gay Award, recognizing him as the Lynx’s top male athlete. Those achievements laid a foundation that he now hopes to build upon from the sidelines.
For the past twelve years, Galow worked as the Director of Team Programs for M14Hoops in Chicago, where he supervised more than sixty teams and mentored a network of fifty coaches. Under his guidance, players have gone on to compete at institutions such as Cornell, Indiana, Stanford, Yale and, notably, Rhodes itself. His experience spans both grassroots development and high‑level collegiate preparation.
Looking Ahead
Starting June 1, Galow will transition from his Chicago role to the Rhodes campus, bringing a blend of playing pedigree, coaching acumen, and programmatic insight. Athletic Director Jim Duncan expressed confidence that Galow’s deep connection to the college and his proven ability to nurture talent will revitalize the Lynx program and restore its competitive edge.
The announcement has been welcomed by alumni, current players and the broader campus community, who anticipate that Galow’s vision will translate into stronger recruiting, enhanced player development and a renewed focus on academic‑athletic excellence. As he steps into the role, Galow joins a lineage of leaders committed to advancing Rhodes basketball while honoring the institution’s liberal arts values.
