La Salle University announced today that Andrew Lafond has been appointed Director of Basketball Operations, tapping a alum who combined a four‑year playing stint with graduate studies to move into the professional front office.
A Homecoming for a Explorer
Lafond’s collegiate career at La Salle spanned 2018 to 2022, during which he appeared in 16 games and earned a place on the Atlantic 10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll twice. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and later completed a Master’s of Business Administration while serving as a graduate assistant.
Prior to his return, Lafond spent two seasons as a video coordinator for Richmond’s men’s basketball program, overseeing video operations, opponent scouting, player recruitment and team camps. He then moved to the Detroit Pistons, where he worked as an assistant in the Basketball Operations office.
In his new role, Lafond will coordinate scouting, video analysis and operational logistics for the Explorers, drawing on both his playing background and his recent administrative experience.
University officials said the hire reflects a commitment to continuity and growth, noting that Lafond’s familiarity with the campus culture will help bridge the gap between the team’s on‑court ambitions and its academic mission.
