Andrew Moore Returns to Oregon State as Pitching Coach

Former Beavers star brings professional experience and a championship pedigree to the role

Oregon State announced this week that Andrew Moore, a former standout pitcher for the Beavers, will take over as the program’s new pitching coach.

Moore, who starred for Oregon State from 2013 to 2015, posted a 2.10 ERA and a 27‑9 record, earning All‑American honors in both seasons and guiding the team to an NCAA regional appearance in 2015.

After being drafted by the Seattle Mariners in 2015, he made ten major‑league appearances before turning to coaching, most recently serving in the Cleveland Guardians' minor‑league system where he worked with pitchers at every level.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Moore said he is eager to return to Corvallis, to "help the next generation of pitchers chase a National Championship" and to bring the lessons learned from his professional experience to the collegiate game.

A Fresh Pitching Vision for the Beavers

The move signals a shift toward a more data‑driven approach, with Moore promising to blend modern analytics with the traditional work ethic that defined his own career.

Fans can expect a heightened focus on pitch sequencing and injury‑prevention protocols, elements that were central to Moore's success as a player and later as a coach in the Guardians' system.

Head coach Mitch Canham praised the hire, noting Moore's "elite playing pedigree" and his "proven ability to develop talent" as qualities that will strengthen the Beavers' staff.

Moore will replace Rich Dorman, who left the position to become pitching coach for the Florida Gators, and will inherit a rotation that has shown flashes of brilliance but still seeks consistency.
