Andrew Moore, a former All‑American pitcher for Oregon State, has been appointed the new pitching coach for the Beavers' baseball program, stepping into the role vacated by Rich Dorman, who recently took a similar position at the University of Florida.
Moore, who starred for the Beavers from 2013 through 2015, compiled a 27‑9 record with a 2.10 ERA across 48 starts, earning All‑American honors in 2013 and 2015 and guiding the team to an NCAA regional appearance in 2015.
A distinguished playing pedigree
After being selected by the Seattle Mariners in the second round of the 2015 draft, Moore made ten major‑league appearances between 2017 and 2019 before turning his focus to coaching, most recently serving in the Cleveland Guardians' minor‑league system where he worked with pitchers at various levels.
Head coach Mitch Canham praised Moore's blend of playing excellence and coaching acumen, stating that his return to Corvallis brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective that the program hopes will translate into sustained success on the mound.
The Beavers, who are gearing up for a season that includes aspirations of contending for a national championship, view Moore's hire as a pivotal piece of a pitching staff that has shown flashes of dominance but needs continuity and leadership to translate talent into consistent results.
