Andy Weaver Takes the Helm at Zionsville High School Basketball Program

A seasoned coach with a distinguished record returns to lead the Eagles

Weaver’s Return Marks a Turning Point

Andy Weaver, a veteran coach with three decades of experience, has been appointed as the new boys’ basketball coach at Zionsville High School, succeeding J.R. Howell, who departed for another opportunity.

Weaver’s résumé includes a 196‑137 record over 14 seasons at Plainfield, a 422‑313 career tally, and a host of honors such as three IBCA District 2 Coach of the Year awards and five Mid‑State Coach of the Year recognitions. His teams have consistently competed at the top, highlighted by a 24‑3 run in 2020‑21 that ended a 22‑year sectional drought and a 22‑3, No. 5 state ranking this season.

The Eagles return a core group of players — Cadmen Moore, Rylon Gore, Nick Snively, Preston Johnson and Zack Green — who will look to build on last year’s 13‑11 record and aim for a deeper postseason run under Weaver’s guidance.

Community leaders, including Zionsville Community High School athletic director Josh Larsh, who previously worked with Weaver at Western, expressed confidence that his leadership will restore the program’s momentum and foster student‑athlete development.
