The Ankeny Christian Academy baseball squad etched its name into the state’s sports lore this spring, securing a spot in the Class 1A tournament for the first time in nine years. A gritty 12‑10 victory over Saint Ansgar, a game that stretched close to three hours and featured a combined 22 runs, served as the final proof of a team that refused to surrender.
What began as a rocky start in the 2025 campaign gave way to a midseason metamorphosis. By the time the regular season concluded, the Eagles stood at 29‑5, the No. 6 seed in the 1A bracket, and a living testament to collective effort. Coach and players alike credit the turnaround to a simple mantra: trust the process and lean on one another.
Offensively, the lineup has been relentless. All nine of the team’s top hitters are batting .305 or better, and eight of them have already driven in 23 or more runs. The depth of production has turned every at‑bat into a potential game‑changing moment.
On the mound, the rotation has been equally impressive. The top five pitchers have posted earned‑run averages of 3.28 or lower, with four of them sitting under the 3.00 mark. Senior right‑hander Landon Curtis and sophomore Tyler Davis, each surpassing 40 strikeouts for the year, anchor a staff that consistently limits opponents.
The Eagles’ rallying cry, ‘conquer,’ encapsulates their philosophy. Rather than chasing individual glory, the group embraces a culture of teamwork and resilience, a mindset that has carried them through tight contests and will be tested in the upcoming showdown.
