Nebraska’s offense will look markedly different this fall, with a new quarterback leading the charge.
A fresh face in the rankings
The Athletic’s latest quarterback rankings place Anthony Colandrea at No. 39, positioning him in tier four of a seven‑tier system compiled by a national panel of coaches, general managers and scouts.
Colandrea arrives in Lincoln after a breakout season at UNLV, where he was named Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year. He threw for 3,459 yards and 23 touchdowns while adding 649 rushing yards and 10 scores.
Before UNLV, the quarterback posted 4,083 passing yards and 26 touchdowns over two seasons at Virginia, setting freshman records with 154 completions for 1,958 yards.
A competition for the starting spot
The ranking comes as Nebraska seeks a new starter following the transfer of Dylan Raiola to Oregon. Dante Moore, the top‑ranked quarterback in the same list, is expected to challenge Colandrea for the job.
Coaches have praised his ability to make plays outside a structured system, though they caution that such creativity can sometimes lead to mistakes.
