Las Cruces area crowns top boys basketball player
Anthony Eres, a junior at Centennial High School, was selected as the best boys basketball player in the Las Cruces area for the 2025‑26 season after receiving 59.89% of the votes, amounting to 22,282 ballots.
His statistical line featured an average of 9.3 points per game, a season‑high 20 points against Alamogordo on Jan. 20, and a 43% field‑goal rate that translated into 271 points over the campaign. He also contributed 45 rebounds, 37 steals, 14 assists and a single block while appearing in all 29 games for the Hawks.
The honor came as the team captured the District 3‑5A championship, underscoring Eres’s role in the club’s success.
He was also named an honorable mention on the 2025‑26 Las Cruces Sun‑News Boys Basketball Super Team, a recognition that highlighted his impact beyond raw numbers.
