USC baseball has secured a commitment from transfer left‑handed pitcher Anthony Gubitosi, who spent the last two seasons at Indiana University and previously at the University of Delaware.
A Left‑Handed Reliever with a Proven Track Record
During his collegiate career Gubitosi posted a career earned‑run average under five runs in three of his four seasons and limited left‑handed batters to a .205 average while striking out 24 batters over his final 18 innings as a freshman.
He missed the first six weeks of the 2025 campaign after an offseason injury, but returned to appear in 39 games for Delaware and collected seven saves in his first two seasons there.
A Strategic Fit for the Trojans
The left‑handed arm complements the existing rotation and gives USC flexibility in late‑game situations, especially when the opposition leans on left‑handed hitters who have historically struggled against his repertoire.
Gubitosi relies on an 88‑90 mph fastball and a sharp breaking ball that sits in the 76‑79 mph range, while an 83‑85 mph changeup is deployed on the outer half against right‑handed hitters.
Coaches expect the newcomer to add depth to the bullpen and to provide a reliable option against left‑handed hitters, a niche he has mastered throughout his collegiate tenure.
If he can stay healthy, Gubitosi could become a regular fixture in the late innings, helping the Trojans push for a deeper run in the upcoming season.
