Anthony Smith, a defensive lineman for the University of Minnesota, has been selected for the 2026 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, an honor that celebrates college football players who make a difference beyond the gridiron.
The nomination reflects Smith’s extensive volunteer work, which ranges from organizing the annual turkey drive that supports local food banks to coaching at youth camps and assisting the Girl Scouts with cookie sales.
Earlier this year, he traveled four hours to Austin, Minnesota, to surprise a classroom of students who had written him letters, delivering an emotional visit that underscored his commitment to personal connections.
A Dual Threat: Service and Performance
On the field, Smith’s 2025 season was nothing short of spectacular; he recorded 38 tackles, 17.5 tackles for loss, 12.5 sacks and three pass breakups, earning him a preseason All‑American nod and a spot on the All‑Big Ten First Team.
Coaches and teammates alike praise his leadership, noting that his community involvement fuels the same relentless drive he displays during games.
