Key matchups and historic milestones
Nine of those contests will be played on the Mountaineers’ home floor, giving the team a chance to leverage its strong home‑court tradition while navigating a demanding road trip that includes stops at Arkansas State, ULM and Old Dominion in early January.
The first home game is slated for Dec. 31 against Troy, a rematch of a 66‑44 victory from the previous season, setting a festive tone for the campaign.
Subsequent home contests against Georgia State, Coastal Carolina and Georgia Southern will be interspersed with road games, and the Mountaineers will later host a two‑game series with Old Dominion before closing the regular season with matchups versus Marshall, Southern Miss and James Madison.

Under head coach Dustin Kerns, the program has compiled a 76‑49 record in Sun Belt play, the best mark in the league, and has posted double‑digit conference wins in three straight seasons for the first time since 1997‑2000.
Kerns’ seven‑year tenure has produced a .608 winning percentage and the team has finished among the top two in the conference three times, capturing a regular‑season title in 2023‑24 and a tournament championship in 2020‑21.
