Austin Peay State University’s women’s soccer team faced a challenging road test on Thursday night, traveling to Finley Stadium in Chattanooga to meet the Moccasins in a Southern Conference showdown.
Opening Strike
Quinn Johnson broke the deadlock in the sixth minute, slotting her third goal of the season into the net and earning a nod for Southern Conference Rookie of the Year honors.
Chattanooga’s Response
Just over twenty minutes later, EG Dillard doubled the lead with her first goal of the campaign, assisted by Landry Olson, before Paige Thomas sealed the outcome with a strike in the sixty‑first minute.
Megan Waskiewicz, the APSU goalkeeper, kept the score respectable with four saves scattered throughout the match, while redshirt sophomore Mason Riley made her debut between the posts, recording two stops in her final twenty‑three minutes.
Kylie Brandes, a sophomore midfielder, logged seventy‑two minutes on the field, contributing the only shot on target for the Lady Govs before being substituted.
Despite the setback, the coaching staff highlighted the experience gained by younger players and emphasized a focus on defensive organization as the team looks ahead to the next conference fixture.
