Pitcher Hunter Dietz and catcher Ryder Helfrick have been named semifinalists for both the Golden Spikes Award and the Dick Howser Trophy, the two most coveted player‑of‑the‑year honors in college baseball.
Dietz, who anchors the rotation with a 7‑2 record, a 3.22 earned‑run average and 108 strikeouts, sits fifth nationally in strikeout rate. His ability to dominate opposing lineups has made him a cornerstone of Arkansas’ pitching staff.
Helfrick, meanwhile, leads the offense with a .294 batting average, 15 home runs, 45 runs batted in and a league‑top 51 walks. His combination of power and plate discipline has placed him eighth in the country for overall offensive production.
Arkansas is only the fourth program in the nation to see multiple players among the Golden Spikes semifinalists, underscoring the program’s consistent ability to develop top‑tier talent. The Razorbacks have previously celebrated victories by Wehiwa Aloy, Andrew Benintendi and Kevin Kopps, each of whom brought the award home for the university.
