A group of Arkansas baseball standouts is set to showcase their talents at the MLB Draft Combine in Phoenix later this month, joining a field of 335 of the nation’s most promising draft‑eligible players.
A Talent‑Rich Field
The event, scheduled for June 23‑26 at Chase Field, will feature workouts and a live game, giving scouts an up‑close look at the prospects who could shape the 2025 draft. Among the Razorbacks’ signees, seven players and two high‑school commits are expected to attend, including top‑rated prospects Ryder Helfrick and Hunter Dietz, both projected as first‑round picks.
Helfrick arrives as the No. 6 overall prospect according to ESPN, No. 8 by Baseball America and No. 13 on MLB Pipeline’s rankings. He earned All‑America honors, defensive All‑SEC recognition and is a finalist for the Gold Glove Award. Dietz, ranked No. 15 by MLB Pipeline, 24th by ESPN and 41st by Baseball America, posted a 3.57 ERA and 131 strikeouts in 85 ⅔ innings during his first full college season.
Joining them, Gabe Gaeckle and Carson Wiggins are the only other Arkansas players listed by all three major services. Wiggins, a draft‑eligible sophomore, could become a first‑round selection in 2027 if he decides to return for his junior year. The combine also welcomes All‑Americans Ethan McElvain and Camden Kozeal, former Vanderbilt standouts who bring additional pedigree to the event.
The draft itself will unfold in Philadelphia on July 11‑12, with the first four rounds on the opening day and Rounds 5‑20 following on the second. While the combine offers a preview, the true test will come when teams finalize their selections later this summer.
