All-SEC Honors Highlight Razorbacks' Season
The University of Arkansas baseball program celebrated a rare sweep of the All‑SEC honors as the conference released its 2026 postseason awards. Three Razorbacks — Hunter Dietz, Ethan McElvain and Ryder Helfrick — were recognized on the league’s first, second and all‑defensive teams respectively, underscoring the depth of the club’s talent as it prepares for the SEC Tournament.
Dietz Leads Rotation
Hunter Dietz, a left‑handed starter, earned the conference’s top‑team nod after posting a 3.32 earned‑run average and a league‑best 117 strikeouts across 78 ⅔ innings. The accolade comes after the pitcher missed the previous two seasons while recovering from an arm injury, a setback that made his return and subsequent dominance all the more impressive.
McElvain Makes Relief Corps
Ethan McElvain, meanwhile, was selected to the second team as a relief specialist. The sophomore posted a 1.24 ERA, fanning 45 batters in 29 innings while appearing in 17 games and converting four saves. His inclusion marks the first time an Arkansas reliever has cracked the All‑SEC second team since Kevin Kopps earned the honor in 2021.
Helfrick's Defensive Impact
Ryder Helfrick’s defensive prowess earned him a spot on the league’s all‑defensive squad. The catcher leads the nation among his position group in several key metrics and was also named a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes Award, given annually to the nation’s top collegiate player.
The Razorbacks open the SEC Tournament on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m., facing a familiar slate of powerhouses that includes LSU, Texas, Florida, Mississippi State, Auburn, Ole Miss, Texas A&M and Georgia. The tournament, which begins Tuesday in Hoover, Alabama, will test the team’s depth and the newly minted All‑SEC talent against the SEC’s elite.
Beyond the three headline acts, Arkansas also saw starters Dylan Volantis, Aidan King and Tomas Valincius join Dietz on the first team, illustrating a balanced rotation that could pose a serious threat in the postseason. Coach Hagen Smith and the rest of the staff praised the collective effort that made the honors possible.
