Arkansas soccer concluded its preseason schedule with a 2‑0 loss to Memphis in Tennessee, the match divided into three quarters rather than the usual two halves.
The Razorbacks had opened the exhibition series with a 3‑0 victory over Kansas City the previous Wednesday, but could not replicate that form against the Tigers.
Memphis struck first in the 69th minute after a swift three‑pass move that culminated in a goal, and added a second in the closing 20 minutes when Arkansas failed to clear a rebound that slipped into the top corner.
Coach Colby Hale voiced his frustration, saying the team “stopped working” in the final period and was “kicked” by a more focused opponent.
A demanding opening lies ahead
The Razorbacks are slated to face five preseason top‑25 opponents, including North Carolina, LSU, Georgia, Tennessee and Clemson, before opening the regular season against Baylor on August 12 at Razorback Field.
Despite the setback, the squad aims to carry forward the momentum from last season’s SEC regular‑season title and push for a deep run in the NCAA Tournament.
