The second day of the 2026 Sun Belt Football Media Days put Arkansas State squarely in the spotlight, as the Red Wolves outlined their strategy for the West Division race. With the season still months away, the program is already generating buzz around its offensive revamp and player development.
Head coach Butch Jones, now in his sixth year at the helm, stressed that the starting quarterback will emerge organically based on performance and leadership. "We’re letting the competition play out on the field," Jones said, underscoring a merit‑based approach to the pivotal position.
Adding to the offensive overhaul, former TCU quarterback‑turned‑offensive‑line specialist Garrett Altman joins the staff as the new offensive coordinator. Altman brings a blend of playing experience and coaching acumen that he believes will help shape a more dynamic attack.
Veteran quarterback Chauncy Cobb, a Walter Camp Preseason All‑American, expressed enthusiasm about the depth at the position.
