Arkansas State University announced on Tuesday that head coach Ryan Pannone has secured the commitment of Moussa Sy, a 6‑foot‑10 forward from West Oaks Academy in Florida, to join the program for the 2026‑27 season.
A Mobile Big Man with Proven Rebounding
Sy brings a blend of size, athleticism and work ethic that caught the attention of the coaching staff. In his recent stint with the Men’s Power Conference at the Grind Session, he averaged 12.1 rebounds per game, topping the league in that category, while also posting 11 points per game over 13 contests.
Coach Pannone’s Assessment
Pannone praised Sy’s defensive versatility, noting that the player can guard multiple positions and thrive in pick‑and‑roll situations. “His effort, energy and willingness to contribute in every facet of the game make him a valuable addition,” Pannone said in a statement.
The coach also highlighted Sy’s character, pointing to his interactions with teammates and his reputation for teamwork as qualities that align with the program’s culture.
Looking Forward
With Sy’s arrival, the Red Wolves hope to bolster their interior presence and defensive schemes. The coaching staff believes his rebounding prowess and ability to finish at the rim will provide a tangible boost as the team prepares for a competitive schedule.
