Athlon Sports Magazine has unveiled its preseason American Conference all-star team, bestowing nine selections upon the Army football program, a testament to the squad’s depth and potential as it eyes the 2026 campaign.

Preseason Honors Highlight Depth

Senior linebacker Brady Small earned first-team honors and was further distinguished with a fourth-team All-American nod, underscoring his impact on both sides of the ball.

Defensive end Jack Bousum also secured a first-team slot, tying for the team lead in sacks and tackles for loss last season, while running back Cale Hellums was placed on the second team after amassing 1,223 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns.

Other notable recognitions include Paolo Gennarelli’s contributions to a ground attack that compiled 3,485 yards, Kody Harris-Miller’s 15 tackles, Jaydan Mayes’ 20 solo stops, and Godspower Nwawuihe’s breakout performance in the Fenway Bowl, where he logged 171 yards and two long scores.

Special teams standout James Wagenseller averaged 43 yards per punt and pinned opponents inside the 20-yard line 13 times, while receiver Brady Anderson ranked second in receiving yards with 381 on 14 catches.

The preseason buzz will be amplified by the American Conference’s media days scheduled for July 23-24 in St. Petersburg, Florida, where coaches and players will field questions ahead of the season opener on September 5 against Bryant at Michie Stadium.

With a blend of veteran leadership and emerging talent, the Black Knights are poised to translate preseason accolades into on-field success, aiming to build on last year’s offensive production and defensive improvements.
