Rutgers football announced on May 29 that it had secured its seventh commitment from the weekend’s official visit roster, a high‑school wide receiver from Richland, Pennsylvania.
A Recruit with Power Five Interest
Arnold Mugerwa, a 6‑foot‑3, 197‑pound prospect, is rated as a high three‑star recruit by both Rivals and 247sports and had been courting several Power Five programs.
During his junior campaign he amassed 54 receptions for 1,020 yards and 11 touchdowns, while also contributing 36 tackles, two interceptions and a pick‑six on defense.
Those numbers helped him climb to No. 71 among the nation’s wide receivers in the Rivals rankings and positioned him as the No. 17 prospect in Pennsylvania.
Mugerwa ultimately chose Rutgers over a list that included Duke, Florida State, Maryland, Michigan State, NC State, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.
His commitment adds depth to a receiving corps that already features Jamar Taylor, and it marks the second wide receiver to join the Knights’ 2027 class.
Wide receivers coach Dave Brock, known for developing talent, will oversee Mugerwa’s development.
