Arsenal Football Club has confirmed the acquisition of Elisa de Almeida from Paris Saint‑Germain for a reported €600,000, a move designed to reinforce the Gunners’ centre‑back options for the forthcoming 2026‑27 campaign.
The signing comes at a time when Arsenal’s current centre‑back, Katie Reid, remains sidelined with an anterior cruciate ligament injury sustained earlier this season, a setback that has left the backline short of fit options heading into the new season.
A Defensive Boost for Arsenal
De Almeida, 28, brings a wealth of experience having featured for France at senior level and contributed to PSG’s run to the Champions League semi‑finals in 2023‑24, as well as quarter‑final appearances at the 2023 World Cup and the 2025 European Championships, and she is capable of operating both as a centre‑back and a right‑back.
The North London club has already completed seven signings in the current window, bringing in players such as Barcelona full‑back Ona Batlle, Bayern Munich midfielder Georgia Stanway and 19‑year‑old RB Leipzig winger Lisa Baum, underscoring a proactive strategy to reshape the squad.
With the transfer window closing at 11 pm BST on Thursday, the de Almeida deal arrives just in time for Arsenal to finalise their defensive preparations before the new season begins.
