A Program in Transition
Ashley Peeler has been appointed as the new head coach of the Kirkwood girls basketball team, marking the first time she will lead a program from the sidelines.
Peeler brings a strong playing background to the role, having helped Austin Peay reach the NCAA Tournament in 2009 and 2010 as one of the team’s top two scorers and earning three‑time Associated Press All‑State honorable‑mention honors at Bartlett.
Her coaching journey includes stints as an assistant at Mount Paran Christian School in Kennesaw, Georgia, as well as at Riverdale, Lancaster Christian Academy and Marietta High School, where she honed her ability to develop talent and shape game strategy.
Peeler’s philosophy centers on building lasting relationships with players and maintaining consistency in practice and play, an approach she believes is essential for sustained success.
She will replace Tenisha Lockridge, who guided the team to a program‑best 14 wins, and becomes the fourth head coach in four seasons, underscoring the rapid evolution of the program.
In a statement, Peeler said she is excited to ‘instill a culture of trust and hard work,’ adding that the foundation she hopes to build will be rooted in daily commitment and mutual respect.
