The Houston Astros announced that general manager Dana Brown and the club have mutually agreed to part ways after his contract expired at the end of the season.
Brown stepped into the role in January 2023 and guided the team to two division titles over four seasons, while also spearheading scouting initiatives and player development strategies.
Owner Jim Crane praised Brown’s contributions, highlighting his work in scouting, the draft and player development, and thanked him for his dedication to the organization.
During the transition, senior adviser Jeff Bagwell and assistant general managers Charles Cook, Gavin Dickey and Connor Huff will assume Brown’s duties, with Crane overseeing baseball operations.
The Astros, who opened a 3‑6 homestand that left them tied with the Texas Rangers for the AL West lead, will look to maintain momentum as they navigate the leadership change.
Brown expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve as an MLB general manager and for the welcoming environment he found in Houston, noting that the experience has been both rewarding and transformative.
