The remaining position players have not compensated. Jeff McNeil, once a reliable contact bat, now posts a .255/.312/.331 line with a 79 wRC+, while Lawrence Butler’s power has evaporated, slipping to a .206/.299/.330 slash.
Jacob Wilson’s on‑base percentage, the lowest of his career at .269, has forced the team to rely on a fragile average to carry the offense.
Max Muncy, expected to anchor the hot corner, has failed to live up to projections, leaving third base unsettled.
The pitching staff reflects the same malaise. Veteran Jeffrey Springs endures a 6.17 ERA, and Severino’s post‑injury outings have been underwhelming.
