The rivalry between the two institutions dates back to 1900, making it a cornerstone of African‑American collegiate athletics. Over the decades the matchup has drawn generations of alumni, students and fans who view the game as a rite of passage and a celebration of academic excellence.
A Modern Celebration
Jerry Freeman, co‑founder of 9167 Sports & Entertainment Agency, is spearheading the event together with Morehouse athletic director Harold Ellis, Clark Atlanta athletic director Dr. Gerald Drew and SIAC Commissioner Dr. Anthony Holloman. Their vision is to inject fresh energy into the rivalry by moving the contest to the start of the season, thereby creating a weekend that blends competition with community.
Fan Experience Redefined
The event will showcase an 8,000‑square‑foot VIP lounge overlooking the field at B.T. Harvey Stadium, while a Fan Zone Tailgate adjacent to the stadium will feature alumni tents, food trucks, DJs and live entertainment, allowing supporters to tailgate and watch the game simultaneously. The weekend schedule also includes a Friday evening mixer, post‑game entertainment and a Sunday brunch that brings together students, alumni and the broader Atlanta community.
