Community-driven soccer clinic sparks new interest in Augusta
Atlanta United joined forces with Georgia Power to bring a youth soccer clinic to Augusta, Georgia, as part of the Positive Energy Partnership, a program aimed at expanding the sport’s reach in the region.
The initiative draws on the momentum generated by the recent World Cup, which introduced soccer to many American households, and seeks to translate that excitement into local participation.
Colby Childress, a key organizer, guided the session and observed a strong turnout, including several first‑time players eager to take the field.
Organizers emphasized that the clinic is more than a one‑off event; it is a stepping stone toward building a lasting soccer culture among young people in the area.
By pairing athletic development with community engagement, the partnership hopes to nurture talent and inspire the next generation of players.
