Auburn’s 2026 campaign concluded with a ninth‑place finish in the final USA TODAY Coaches Poll, a stark reminder of how quickly momentum can shift after a Super Regional setback.
The defeat came at the hands of Ole Miss, who advanced to the College World Series and ultimately claimed the national title, leaving Auburn outside the top eight despite a strong overall record.
Oklahoma seized the championship and rode that success to the No. 1 spot in the poll, while the traditional powerhouses Georgia, Texas, Alabama and Ole Miss occupied positions three through seven.
The SEC’s influence extended well beyond the top ten, as four additional conference members — Mississippi State, Texas A&M, Florida and Arkansas — secured places 13th, 16th, 19th and 21st respectively.
Kentucky and Tennessee also earned votes, underscoring the league’s depth, while the complete list comprised 25 programs, some of which dropped out and others that received limited support.
