A Return to the Rocket City Classic
Auburn’s men’s basketball team will face Middle Tennessee on December 15, 2026, at Probst Arena in Huntsville, Alabama. The matchup marks the Tigers’ comeback to the Rocket City Classic, a venue they last visited in 2023, and underscores the program’s continued emphasis on regional showcase games.
Coach Steven Pearl expressed enthusiasm about the contest, noting that Middle Tennessee’s recent performances have made them a formidable opponent. He also took the opportunity to commend the coaching staff of the Blue Raiders, highlighting the mutual respect that fuels competitive spirit.
A Program on the Rise
Middle Tennessee concluded the 2025‑26 season with a 17‑15 record, earning a KenPom ranking of 175 and a NET position of 162. Although they fell in the first round of the Conference USA Tournament, the Blue Raiders have established themselves as a competitive mid‑major program, a fact that Pearl says the Tigers are eager to test against.
The December 15 game is part of a broader nonconference schedule that includes contests against West Virginia and Wisconsin, as well as participation in the Players Era 8 event in Las Vegas, Nevada, beginning November 17. Auburn has already secured five nonconference matchups, positioning the team for a challenging but promising start to the season.
Road Tests Across the Country
After the Huntsville showdown, Auburn will travel to Nashville, Tennessee, to meet Wisconsin on December 19 at Bridgestone Arena. The Tigers will also head to Las Vegas for the opening games of the Players Era 8 tournament, where they are slated to face West Virginia as part of a three‑game stint that highlights the team’s national exposure.
