A Young Squad Rallies to Claim Regional Crown
The Auburn Tigers baseball team turned a rocky start into a story of perseverance, rallying from an opening defeat to seize the regional championship on their home field.
After dropping their first game to Milwaukee, the young roster fought through a rain‑delayed contest, stringing together four straight victories that kept their season alive and culminated in an 8‑3 triumph over the Panthers.
Head coach Butch Thompson praised the team's grit, noting that the underclassmen embraced the challenge and displayed a determination that belied their experience.
On the mound, Jake Marciano delivered a crisp four‑inning outing, fanning six batters and setting the tone for the offense. The breakthrough came in the sixth when catcher Chase Fralick launched a home run that sparked a surge of runs.
Fralick’s blast was more than a solo shot; it was his 20th home run of the season, a first for an Auburn catcher and a key factor in the team’s offensive explosion. The performance earned him the regional MVP honor.
Reliever Jackson Sanders capped the victory with five solid innings, striking out eight and earning the win.
