Sports analyst Bill Bender of The Sporting News recently released his 2026‑27 postseason projections, ruling out the Tigers and predicting that only eleven of the SEC’s fourteen members will secure bowl eligibility.
The forecast comes as the Tigers prepare for a rugged schedule that includes traditional powerhouses Alabama and Georgia, both of whom regularly contend for College Football Playoff spots.
Adding to the pressure, new head coach Alex Golesh will inherit a team that has posted seven losses in each of the past five seasons, a record that has kept fans yearning for a return to winning ways.
Auburn’s recent history adds a stark backdrop; the program endured a four‑year bowl hiatus between 1991 and 1994, a period marked by a postseason ban in 1993 and 1994, and the Tigers have not captured a bowl victory since the 2018 Music City Bowl.
