Austin Cindric is set to take the wheel of a specially crafted throwback car that pays homage to Rusty Wallace’s legendary 1993 campaign, the centerpiece of an upcoming NASCAR Cup Series event at North Wilkesboro Speedway.
The livery features a dark gray panel that displays a collage of Team Penske’s Cup Series victories in the No. 2 car, while a gold stripe bears the names of the roughly 450 employees who have contributed to the program over the years.
Retaining the classic No. 2 font that made Wallace instantly recognizable, the design also incorporates subtle modern accents that tie the historic motif to contemporary racing aesthetics.
A Tribute to a Legend
Cindric described the opportunity as a privilege, noting that the paint scheme will be instantly familiar to longtime NASCAR fans who remember Wallace’s dominance at North Wilkesboro during the 1990s.
Wallace will join Cindric for the unveiling on Monday and will serve as the grand marshal for Sunday’s race, while a show car displaying the throwback artwork will be exhibited throughout the weekend at the North Carolina venue.

The upcoming event marks the first Cup Series points race at North Wilkesboro since 1996, reviving a historic track for modern competition and capping a weekend that blends nostalgia with fresh sporting stakes.
