Austin FC announced that Khaled El‑Ahmad will join the club as chief soccer officer, a move that comes as the franchise reshapes its soccer operations ahead of the upcoming season.
El‑Ahmad spent the last two years as sporting director of Minnesota United, where he guided the team to the playoffs in each of his full seasons and oversaw a roster that became a consistent contender in the Western Conference.
A proven record in player development and strategic planning
Before arriving in Minnesota, El‑Ahmad served as sporting director at Barnsley FC in England and held positions within City Football Group, giving him experience both abroad and within a global network that includes clubs in the Premier League and MLS.
His appointment coincides with the arrival of Jim Curtin as head coach, who will lead the team after the current campaign, and Dean Costalas, who joined earlier this summer as senior vice president of soccer strategy.
In the interim, Hank Stebbins, currently Minnesota’s head of recruitment, will step in as chief soccer officer while the new front office settles into place, ensuring continuity during the transition.
