West Texas A&M’s men’s basketball program is set to welcome a new international talent for the 2026‑27 season, a move that underscores the team’s ambition to elevate its competitive edge.
Austin Prosser, a 6‑foot‑8 guard from New South Wales, Australia, brings a blend of size, skill and overseas experience that caught the eye of head coach Tom Brown.
Prosser’s résumé includes stints with the Australian U17 side and a spot in the National Performance Camp at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra, where he refined his game against some of the country’s top prospects.
Coach Brown’s Vision
Tom Brown praised Prosser’s basketball IQ, noting that the youngster’s understanding of spacing and timing should translate into immediate on‑court impact.
Darren Best of AUSA Basketball added that Prosser’s shooting touch, ability to crash the boards and knack for contributing to winning plays make him a valuable piece of the Buffs’ future.
The commitment reflects West Texas A&M’s growing ambition to compete on a national level, leveraging partnerships with institutions such as the Australian Institute of Sport and drawing on the expertise of both Brown and Best to shape a dynamic roster.
