Austrian big man Fynn Schott signs with Utah Utes
Utah’s men’s basketball program has announced the addition of Austrian forward Fynn Schott for the upcoming 2026‑27 campaign, a move that bolsters the roster with a seasoned European big man standing 6‑9.
The 6‑9 prospect arrives after two seasons with Hestia Menorca in Spain’s Primera FEB, where he averaged 17 points, 13 rebounds, 2.5 assists and a block per game in two matches of the 2027 FIBA World Cup qualifiers. Prior to that, he gained experience in Austria and Croatia, developing a versatile skill set that blends post presence with perimeter awareness.
Internationally, Schott has been a regular on the Austrian Senior National Team and has represented his country at U16, U18 and U20 levels from 2022 through 2025. He will share the court with Utah’s Jakob Poeltl on the national side, a relationship that could foster new on‑court chemistry for the Utes.
Coaching staff see the signing as a strategic step toward integrating European tactics into the program. They anticipate that Schott’s inside‑out game and familiarity with fast‑paced European basketball will complement the existing roster and enhance the team’s depth for the 2026‑27 season.
