Avan Woolridge, a senior at Rice Consolidated High School, has officially committed to the basketball program at Blinn College, signaling the next step in his athletic journey after graduation.
The young guard will receive his diploma on May 28 at 8 p.m., bringing to a close a high school career that culminated in a tryout that earned him a place on the Bison roster.
A call on May 18 confirmed his spot, setting the stage for Woolridge to bring his skill set and work ethic to the college ranks as a redshirt freshman.
A New Chapter on the Court
Coaches at Blinn College praised his dedication, noting that the program will give him the platform to hone his abilities before he tests the waters for a larger role in the rotation next season.
Woolridge said he is eager to contribute immediately, leveraging his work ethic to make an impact and continue his development on the court.
The upcoming redshirt freshman season will allow him to refine his game, adapt to the collegiate pace, and showcase the talent that earned him the Bison’s confidence.
With a focus on growth, he aims to translate his high school successes into collegiate contributions, positioning himself for future opportunities both on and off the court.
