The Snow College women's soccer squad is set to open its fall schedule at the IHCC Classic in Ottumwa, Iowa, where it will meet two of the nation’s most formidable junior‑college programs — No. 5 Iowa Western Community College and No. 11 Indian Hills Community College.
A season defined by dominance
During the 2025 campaign the Badgers compiled a 13‑4‑3 record, outscoring opponents 52‑15 across 18 contests and posting a 9‑2‑3 mark in Scenic West Athletic Conference play. Their attacking firepower was on full display, culminating in a fourth straight Region 18 Championship that saw them edge Utah State University Eastern 1‑0 in double overtime before sealing the title with a 1‑0 victory over Salt Lake Community College.
The run was not without drama. After a six‑game winning streak that propelled them to the West District Championship, the team fell 2‑1 to Cochise College, ending the season with a narrow defeat but leaving a legacy of resilience.
A historical edge over a familiar foe
Snow College holds a 2‑0 all‑time record against Iowa Western, a rivalry that dates back to a 2018 victory and a more recent 2021 encounter. The Badgers will look to extend that advantage as they open the classic against the same opponent they have bested twice before.
Leadership that spans generations
Head coach Brock Ogami, now in his third year at the helm, has guided the Badgers to a Region 18 title game in each of his seasons, amassing a 37‑12‑6 overall record and a 27‑7‑6 conference slate. His ability to blend veteran presence with fresh talent was evident when returning sophomore Kelsie Peterson earned First‑Team SWAC honors, having appeared in all 19 matches and contributed two goals and four assists.
The roster’s composition tells a story of renewal. Of the 30 players, 19 are freshmen and 11 are returning sophomores, including five out‑of‑state athletes from Idaho, Washington, Nevada and Arizona. Freshmen Caroline Penrod and Tess Peterson will guard the net, while the offensive front will be reshaped after the departure of top scorers Brenna Arauzo and Halle Hansen, who together accounted for 18 goals last season.
New faces, new challenges
Defender Brindee Jones received Third‑Team recognition with a goal and an assist, underscoring the defensive stability that will be crucial against high‑caliber opponents. The Badgers will test their depth in preseason friendlies against Colorado Northwestern Community College on September 5 and Salt Lake Community College on September 10, matches that could set the tone for the upcoming classic.
Iowa Western enters the tournament fresh off a 16‑2‑5 season that secured its sixth consecutive Central District title, while Indian Hills, after a 4‑1 win over Illinois Central College in August, will meet the Badgers for the first time, having previously tied Casper College 1‑1. The stage is set for a clash that could reshape the early narrative of the season.
