State Tournament Set for June 22 in Statesboro
On June 22, the Bainbridge‑Decatur County Recreation Authority will send its 8‑under, 10‑under and 14‑under baseball squads to the Georgia Recreation and Park Association State Tournament in Statesboro. The event will bring together the region’s most promising youth players for a weekend of competition.
These teams earned their spots by capturing district championships and posting strong showings in Tifton earlier this month. The authority entered four squads into the GRPA baseball tournament in Tifton, where seven teams overall qualified for the state level.
District Success Fuels Momentum
The 8‑under purple all‑stars went undefeated in pool play and finished as district runners‑up in District 3, while the 10‑under live‑arm and 14‑under teams each secured district championships. Their performances reflect a deep pool of talent cultivated through the local program.
Beyond the tournament, the Rec Authority has a history of hosting GRPA District 3 and District All‑Stars events in coach‑pitch and softball, collaborating with Crisp and Grady counties to provide competitive opportunities for young athletes across the region.
Community Support and Future Outlook
With the state tournament on the horizon, coaches and families alike are optimistic about the experience and growth that await the players. The community’s support underscores the importance of youth sports in fostering teamwork and leadership.
