Eleven Cardinals recognized for excellence in the classroom and on the diamond

Academic All-MAC Honors Celebrate Scholarship and Sport

The Mid-American Conference recently unveiled its Academic All‑MAC honorees, naming eleven Ball State baseball players who have met the conference’s rigorous criteria of a minimum 3.20 cumulative GPA and at least second‑year academic standing.

Among them, five — John Chambers, Brett Griffiths, Max Kalk, Zach Kwasny and Owen Quinn — also secured spots on the College Sports Communicators Academic All‑District Team, and Quinn’s achievement marks his third consecutive year of receiving the distinction.

The complete roster includes Gavin Balius, Alex Burden, John Colligan, Brendan Garza, Brayden Huebner, Keegan Johnson, and the rest of the honorees, reflecting a deep well of talent across the Cardinals’ squad.

Coach Maloney’s Praise

Coach Rich Maloney praised the group, stating, “These student‑athletes have demonstrated that dedication in the classroom is matched only by their commitment on the playing field.”

The recognition underscores Ball State’s growing emphasis on integrating academic excellence with athletic performance, a balance that the university’s athletic department continues to champion.
