Bangor Secures Spot in State Final
The Bangor baseball team clinched a 5-2 victory over Oxford Hills in the Class A North final, a win that not only adds a regional championship to the program’s résumé but also marks the first such title since 2022.
Under the steady guidance of head coach Dave Morris, the squad captured its fifth regional crown, underscoring the consistency he has brought to the program over his tenure.
Key moments defined the game. Alex Kearns delivered an RBI single that tied the contest in the sixth inning, and Nick Llerenas followed with an infield single that drove in the go‑ahead run. Later, Jonas Gilley’s line drive down the right‑field side brought home Kearns, extending the lead to 4‑2.
The final run came when Kearns was walked with the bases loaded in the seventh, capping a rally that saw every Bangor score come with two outs.
Oxford Hills managed to plate its runs in the third inning, sparked by back‑to‑back singles, but could not recover the deficit.
With the regional title secured, Bangor now turns its focus to the state final scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m., where they will meet Gorham in a highly anticipated showdown.
