Barron Collier High School’s football program will be without its head coach for the entire 2026‑27 season after the Florida High School Athletic Association imposed a sweeping sanction for recruiting violations.
Penalties and Response
The association levied a $5,000 fine on coach Brannon Tidwell and placed the school on one‑year administrative probation, while the school itself was fined $2,500 for the same infractions.
The disciplinary action follows a complaint from Lely High School, which alleged improper contact between Tidwell and prospective players; Tidwell later acknowledged responsibility in a letter to the FHSAA.
Tidwell, who succeeded Mark Jackson after the latter stepped down following a decade at the helm, enters his second season with a 4‑6 record, but the suspension will keep him off the sidelines for every game.
Although barred from attending matches, Tidwell will retain his position as head coach and remain involved in the program’s administrative duties.
