Texas A&M’s baseball program announced a significant addition to its coaching roster this week, as head coach Michael Earley confirmed the hiring of former Major League Baseball pitcher Barry Enright to serve as the team’s new pitching coach for the upcoming 2027 season.
A Coach With Proven MLB Pedigree
Enright’s baseball journey began when the Arizona Diamondbacks selected him in the second round of the 2007 MLB Draft. After a four‑year major‑league career that debuted in 2010, he transitioned to coaching, first leading the Hillsboro Hops’ pitching staff before being named the Athletics’ minor‑league pitching coordinator in 2026.
During his tenure with the Diamondbacks, Enright played a pivotal role in the club’s 2023 World Series run and oversaw the development of three of MLB’s current top 100 prospects. He also directed the minor‑league growth of former Aggie pitchers Micah Dallas, Nathan Dettmer and Will Johnston, and helped send Tyler Anderson and Yusei Kikuchi to the All‑Star Game while serving as the lead pitching coach for the Los Angeles Angels.

Beyond club duties, Enright served as the pitching coach for Team Great Britain at the 2026 World Baseball Classic, bringing a global perspective to his approach.
