At about 9:02 p.m. on July 25, a courtyard at the Towne Center Apartments in Brunswick, Ohio, became the scene of a large‑scale disturbance. A 34‑year‑old resident was set upon by several assailants wielding baseball bats, sustaining injuries that required medical attention.

Police quickly identified and apprehended David Calhoun, a 52‑year‑old man, on charges of felonious assault. In addition, two juveniles were taken into custody for their participation in the assault, underscoring the involvement of younger participants.
The initial response by Brunswick officers was soon overwhelmed as an estimated 50 to 60 additional individuals arrived at the complex. The newcomers sparked further confrontations, prompting a chaotic environment that required immediate intervention.
