Basketball Australia has launched a fresh visual identity for its senior national teams, uniting the Opals, Rollers, Gliders, Boomers and Gangurrus under a single green and gold design. The new kit showcases a modernised 'AUS' badge across the front, a refined colour palette and updated typography, all developed in collaboration with design studio Hulsbosch.
A design rooted in heritage
Central to the rebrand is a striking piece of First Nations artwork by artist Danny O’Shane, whose motifs are woven into the fabric of the jersey. The artwork not only celebrates Indigenous culture but also serves as a visual bridge between the sport’s past and its aspirational future.
The inaugural wear of the new uniform will occur at the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Germany, where the Australian Opals will step onto the court in the green‑gold ensemble. This global showcase will set the tone for the rest of the national programmes.
A staggered rollout across competitions
Following the World Cup, the Australian Rollers and Gliders will don the new kit at the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) World Championships in Canada in September. The Boomers are slated to debut the design during the November FIBA Basketball World Cup Qualifying window, with the full suite of teams adopting the look in the months that follow.
Beyond the competitive arena, the new identity will extend to all senior national squads, reinforcing a cohesive brand narrative that ties together performance, community and national pride.
Leadership’s vision
Basketball Australia CEO Matt Scriven emphasized that the uniforms embody both the rich history and the forward‑looking ambitions of Australian basketball. "The AUS identity provides a strong, unmistakably Australian look for national teams, fostering greater connection among athletes," he said, highlighting the strategic intent behind the refresh.
The rebrand, overseen by Hulsbosch, also includes a refreshed typography system and a colour palette designed to communicate modernity while staying true to the green and gold heritage. This visual language is intended to resonate with fans, sponsors and participants worldwide.
Fans can purchase the new uniforms through the Basketball Australia store on the iAthletic platform, ensuring that supporters can wear the same look as their national heroes.
