A new era of Baylor football coverage
Baylor University has unveiled its 2026 radio broadcast crew for Bears football, a lineup that blends tradition with fresh perspective. The announcement brings together three distinct voices who will shape how fans across Texas and beyond experience each game.
John Morris, the signature voice of Baylor Athletics for three decades, will once again anchor the broadcasts. This season marks his 32nd year in the role and a remarkable streak of 454 consecutive football games called.
Joining him in the booth, former linebacker Geff Gandy will provide color commentary, stepping into the position previously held by Nick Florence. Gandy brings a deep personal history with the program, having lettered from 1979 to 1982 and contributed to the 1979 Peach Bowl and the 1980 Southwest Conference Championship.
Bryson Jackson takes the sideline analyst role, replacing Ricky Thompson, who served in that capacity for 26 years. Jackson’s seven‑year tenure saw him record 71 tackles, 14 for loss, and 7.5 sacks, and he was a key contributor to the 2021 Big 12 Championship and Sugar Bowl‑winning squad.
The broadcast team is rounded out by longtime production veterans Bob Baker and Jeff Walter, while Derek Smith returns for his 17th year to host the Gameday Tailgate Show and the Post‑Game 5th Quarter Show.
Legacy and anticipation
Morris’s distinguished career includes the 2024 Chris Schenkel Award and the 2019 Texas Sportscaster of the Year honor from the National Sports Media Association. His continued presence, paired with Gandy’s on‑field experience and Jackson’s analytical insight, creates a trio that collectively spans six decades of Baylor football coverage.
The new roster not only celebrates individual expertise but also underscores the deep well of knowledge that will continue to shape how fans experience Baylor football across Texas and beyond.
