A Milestone Meeting
Baylor University will host Pepperdine University at Betty Lou Mays Field on Sunday at 7 p.m. CT, marking the first-ever encounter between the two programs in the 31-year history of Baylor soccer.
The contest is part of the annual Pups at the Pitch promotion, which invites fans to bring their pets and rewards the first 100 attendees with complimentary bandanas.
Pepperdine’s Early-Season Momentum
Under the guidance of coach Tim Ward, who is in his 29th season with a career record of 322-158-80, the Waves opened the 2026 campaign with a 2-0-2 slate, having defeated Colgate and Cal and played to draws against USC and Texas Tech.
Pepperdine’s recent performance included a three-minute lead over Texas Tech before a decisive goal in the 81st minute, showcasing resilience and depth.
Baylor’s Non-Conference Surge
Baylor has improved to 3-1-0 in non-conference play after a Thursday SEC match, with junior forward Julia Quinonez finding the net three times in four appearances, including a game-winning strike, while Kyra Murphy has contributed two assists.
Scoring contributions also come from Lauren Omholt and Callie Conrad, each with two goals, and from Theresa McCullough and Aryanna Jimison, who recorded their first goals of the season, while Brynnlee Bohannon adds two assists alongside McCullough.
Looking Ahead
Following Sunday’s showdown, Baylor will travel to face LSU and Oral Roberts before returning home to host Marquette, setting the stage for a busy stretch before Big 12 competition begins on September 24 against Oklahoma State.
