Bayshore High School’s baseball team earns national academic honor
The Bruins have been recognized by the American Baseball Coaches Association with its Team Academic Excellence Award for the 2025‑26 season, a distinction that marks the first time the program has received the accolade.
The team posted a collective grade point average of 3.62, the highest among the ten state high school squads honored, underscoring a culture that blends athletic ambition with scholarly rigor.
Head Coach Mike Rupp praised the players’ discipline, noting that “the same focus they bring to the diamond translates directly to the classroom.” He also took the opportunity to thank assistant coaches Scott Hutsko, Jerad Paparella and Armando Sierra for shaping the squad’s development.
The roster that earned the award reads like a microcosm of the next generation of talent, featuring seniors Gabriel Falcon, Jordan Greene, Angelo Magloire, Bryant Ortiz, Tucker Pope, Fabio Rondon and Carsen Smalley, while juniors Diego Falcon, Israel Garcia, Daniel Hutsko and Jashun Judge added depth. Sophomore Diego Orozco and freshmen Herminio Nieves, Sergio Oropesa Marchena, Ismael Rosario and Patrick Schaefer rounded out the lineup, each contributing to the academic and athletic achievements celebrated by the school and its community.
Bayshore High School, located in Florida, has seen its baseball program rise both on the field and in the classroom, a trend that reflects the broader commitment of local educators to foster well‑rounded student‑athletes. The recognition also highlights the role of the American Baseball Coaches Association, whose mission is to promote excellence in coaching and academic performance across the sport.
