A New Era for Football Fans
BBC Sport is set to broaden its football coverage for the 2026/27 season, introducing a suite of fan‑powered formats and new digital experiences across television, radio and online platforms. The initiative brings live matches, expert analysis and personalised updates, while welcoming fresh guest voices and a 20‑club fan collective that will shape the coverage.
Four new YouTube series – FANS2 FANS2, The Truth About Football, Golden Goal and Football Hub – will give supporters a direct line to the action, showcasing behind‑the‑scenes stories and analysis from the stands.
The Match of the Day lineup will feature former internationals such as Wayne Rooney, Micah Richards, Alan Shearer and Joe Hart, alongside other pundits who will bring their playing experience to the commentary booth.
The BBC Sport app will deliver personalised alerts, live score updates and a Shorts feed that highlights fan‑generated content, while daily brainteasers like “Who Am I?” will keep readers engaged between matches.
Coverage will span the Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League, as well as the Bundesliga, LaLiga, Serie A and a full slate of international fixtures, ensuring that fans across the UK and beyond have access to every key game.
Interactive tools such as the BBC Sport World Cup predictor and MOTD Predictor invite supporters to test their forecasting skills, and the new Football Interview series will welcome personalities like Tottenham Hotspur’s James Maddison for in‑depth conversations. In addition, BBC Radio Wales will launch a podcast called Feast of Football, and BBC Sport NI has secured a three‑year broadcast agreement to bring Northern Ireland’s domestic and international matches to a wider audience.
